A four month project that has shut down a major downtown St. Cloud street is about to wrap up.
The Downtown Council reports that 5th Avenue South should be open to vehicle traffic starting Monday, September 25. The $1.67 million project completely closed part of the city's historic downtown area to replace water and utility lines dating back more than 70-years.
Fifth Avenue, which has a variety of restaurants, bars, a hotel and theatre will see some significant updates. The final project includes raised planter beds, benches, outdoor patio seating on a wider surface area, colored and textured concrete, decorative lighting and crosswalks.
