Archived: A Criminal Complaint Charges Benton County Parents With Allowing Child To Ingest Drugs

FOLEY, Minn. (AP) – A toddler has been removed from a home in Benton County because authorities allege the child and the youngster’s parents have tested positive for drugs.

A criminal complaint charges 26-year-old Nicole McKay and 34-year-old Matthew Dennis with allowing their 21-month-old child to ingest methamphetamine and with storing the drug in the presence of a child.

The St. Cloud Times says authorities allege the parents admitted to using drugs prior to the death of another child who died accidentally of positional asphyxiation. Benton County Human Services stepped in when police investigated the death and said they found meth and drug paraphernalia in the home.

The criminal complaint says hair samples from McKay, Dennis and the toddler tested positive for drugs. Attorneys for the couple were not listed in online court records.
