Railroad traffic through St. Cloud was halted Sunday while police talked a man off the bridge crossing the Mississippi River.

The St. Cloud Police Department says officers arrived to a welfare call about a 52-year-old man standing on the edge of the railroad bridge. Authorities contacted Burlington North Santa Fe Railway to stop any trains coming through the area.

The man, who was making suicidal comments, was talked off the bridge Sunday evening.

He was then taken to the St. Cloud Hospital for medical treatment and is facing charges of disorderly conduct, littering, obstructing the legal process, and trespassing.
