Archived: A St. Cloud Teenager Is Facing Multiple Charges Including Fleeing Police In A Motor Vehicle

A teenager is facing multiple charges including two counts of fleeing police in a motor vehicle after leading St. Cloud police on a ten minute chase Tuesday afternoon.

According to St. Cloud Police Sergeant Jason Burke, officers pursued a vehicle after reports shown it was stolen. They spotted the vehicle, driven by 19-year-old Brandon Gene Knowlen of St. Cloud, before it fled from them in the area of 33rd Avenue South and 2nd Street South. Officers lost sight of Knowlen near Coborn’s on Cooper Avenue South, until a Community officer from the St. Cloud police spotted him in the southeast part of town near Riverside Park.

Police chased Knowlen a second time when he was heading westbound on University Drive South at 5th Avenue South. Deputies used stop sticks on the vehicle that deflated one of the tires. However, Knowlen was lost again near Washington Memorial Drive South and University Drive South.

Knowlen was finally caught in the vehicle while parked in a detached garage at an apartment complex in the 1400 block of Washington Memorial Drive South. With a short struggle with officers, the teenager was taken into custody and booked in the Stearns County Jail with multiple charges including two counts of fleeing police in a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

No injuries, accidents or damaged squad cars were reported in the chase.
