Approximately 50 dairy cows were killed and more $100,000 in damage was caused after a barn fire in Spring Hill Township.  The Stearns County Sheriff’s Department received a call at 2:08 a.m. Friday morning from a farm located at 28714 363rd Avenue. The farm is owned by 48 year old Daniel Welle.

The barn was fully engulfed in flames with deputies arrived.  About 20-25 cows got out of the barn unharmed, but the barn is considered a total loss.  The Lake Henry, Elrosa and Belgrade Fire Departments assisted at the scene, as well as Melrose Ambulance.
