Boater Thrown from Boat, Struck by Propeller
09/15/2009 - 9:40 AM
A 47-year-old St. Joseph man is injured after being thrown from his boat and struck by the propeller. It happened Sunday afternoon on Eden Lake, about 2 miles northeast of Eden Valley. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Department says Dave Loso was alone on his fishing boat when he lost control of the motor. Loso, who was not wearing a life jacket, was thrown from the boat and struck by the propeller.
A nearby boater, John Stueber of Hutchinson, picked up Loso in his boat and brought him to shore. Loso was treated on scene for cuts to his back. Meanwhile, Loso’s boat was doing circles in the middle of the lake. Sheriff’s officials controlled the scene until the boat ran out of gas, and towed it to shore.
