Campus Sexual Assaults Up this Year
09/11/2009 - 11:10 AM
The St. Cloud State Women’s Center has received six reports of sexual assault since the beginning of August. In response to the increase in assaults, the Women’s Center is offering more personal safety cards with information on how to identify an abusive relationship, how potential victims can protect themselves, and what resources are available.
While the center says students are most at risk during the first eight weeks of school, they are receiving more reports than usual this year. But Assistant Director of the Women’s Center Lee LaDue says that’s not necessarily a bad thing because it means more victims are reporting it.
Personal Safety Cards can be picked up at the Women’s Center or at various high-traffic areas around campus.
