Archived: Car Crashes Into Sauk River Bridge After Rollover

A car rolled over and crashed into the side of a bridge near Melrose early Wednesday morning.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was sent to the scene of a one-vehicle rollover crash just after midnight. Fifty five-year-old Joseph Gerads was driving on County Road 186 when he lost control and went into a ditch. The vehicle rolled three times before crashing into the bridge over the Sauk River.

Authorities believe alcohol might have contributed to the crash.

Gerads was taken to Melrose Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
