Archived: Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force Concludes Khat Investigation

The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force has finished their investigation into the movement of an illegal substance into the St. Cloud area.

Commander Steve Soyka says Khat, a green leafy substance that is chewed to produce amphetamine-like effects, has been illegally possessed and sold in the St. Cloud area to members of the Somali community.

The task force has identified 54-year-old Ahmed Hassan Abade, as one of the main transporters of the substance from Minneapolis to St. Cloud. Investigators found six and a half pounds of dried Khat in Abade’s vehicle with an estimated street value of $30,000.

Commander Soyka adds that Abade is expected to be charged with 5th degree controlled substance possession.replica rolex, replica watches
