A Dassel man has been arrested after leading police on an hour-long car chase Monday night.

Waite Park Police Chief David Bentrud says officers went to the parking lot of Cash Wise Foods in Waite Park just before 11 p.m. after 47-year-old Jason Ashwill, allegedly threatened to kill a man. When police arrived, Ashwill fled the scene, driving east through St. Cloud.

The suspect drove south on Highway 15 at speeds up to 100 miles per hour. Cooperating agencies used stop sticks to puncture Ashwill’s tires multiple times. After flattening one tire, Ashwill turned around and drove north on Highway 15. By the time he got back in St. Cloud, all of the vehicles tires were flat.

Ashwill was eventually stopped and arrested. He has been taken to the Stearns County Jail for charges of felony fleeing a police offficer in a motor vehicle and damage to property.
