James Bryson Sentenced To Life
James David Bryson

23-year-old James David Bryson was sentenced yesterday [Thursday] to prison for life for first degree criminal sexual conduct.

The incident originally occurred in August, 2011 when a police investigation revealed that the victim was held in her own apartment against her will. She was sexually and severely physically assaulted. Bryson, then 21 years old was identified as the suspect. Bryson was found in the area of the University Bridge after a complaint of a man jumping into the Mississippi River without pants and only a T-shirt was reported.

The life sentence is based upon Bryson’s admission that he tortured the victim. Bryson also admitted that the victim was particularly vulnerable and that he violated her zone of privacy.

Bryson will be considered for release after serving a minimum of fifteen years.
