Archived: Death Of Area Window Washer Under Investigaton

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) – Federal safety officials are investigating the death of a window washer who fell about 70 feet at a hotel in St. Cloud.

Family members say 56-year-old Lee Teske was a self-employed window washer and worked alone. His sister, Dawn Witschen, tells the St. Cloud Times her brother had experience washing windows in downtown Minneapolis and in St. Cloud.

Fire Battalion Chief Greg Newinski says the man was wearing a safety harness when first responders treated him Sunday evening. Teske fell onto a breezeway that connects the Kelly Inn to a convention center and then fell from the breezeway to the ground.

Officials from the Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Administration were in St. Cloud Monday to investigate.
