Dia de Los Muertos Coming To St. Cloud State

Danza Mexica Cuauhtemoc are traditional Mexica and Azteca dancers.

St. Cloud State University’s M.E.Ch.A group and Multicultural Student Services are holding a Dia de Los Muertos celebration on Oct. 30th in the Atwood Ballroom. The celebration which translates to Day of the Dead will start at 12:30 p.m. and then will end at 1:45 p.m.

This year’s theme is “Maestros y Mentores” which translates to “Teachers and Mentors”. M.E.Ch.A will celebrate family, friends, and activists who have dedicated their lives to mentorship and education.

The ceremony will open with a performance by traditional Mexica and Azteca dancers Danza Mexica Cuauhtemoc.

Di de Los Muertos is traditionally an Aztec ceremony honoring the dead which is celebrated in Mexico and many parts of the United States.
