40,000 Mink on Eden Valley Farm Set Loose

Tens of thousands of mink are on the loose near Eden Valley.

According to Stearns County Sheriff Don Gudmundson deputies arrived at Lang Farms Monday morning around 5:30 a.m. on complaints of a burglary or vandalism. Nearly 40,000 mink were set lose between 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Parts of the exterior fence that surrounds the barn where the animals were held had been taken apart.

Due to the domestication of the mink, they are not expected to live. The sheriff’s office is asking people to not approach any mink and to call Lang Farms at (320)-453-4750.

Gudmundson believes that an animal rights group may have released the mink and that federal law enforcement will be investigating.

Tri-County Crimestoppers are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.  Crimestoppers can be reached at 1-800-255-1301.
