Archived: Electronic Voter Registration Coming To Rocori District

Voters in the Rocori School District will have more privacy and quicker check-in processes on Election Day Tuesday.

Stearns County Auditor-Treasurer Randy Schreifels is using a new pilot project. He says the Rocori District will be using electronic rosters this year, either scanning identification or having an election judge search for it electronically. The scrapping of paper rosters will give the process a boost in speed for the voter and election staff.

Registration will require the voter to sign a voter receipt replacing the signature on the paper roster. Citizens not registered can still do so electronically on Election Day.

Schreifels adds they’ve worked cooperatively with the election staff on the pilot project and technicians will be on site in case of any potential problems with the new process.
