Archived: Eurasian Watermilfoil Found In Middle Spunk Lake

An invasive aquatic plant has been located in Middle Spunk Lake near Avon in Stearns County.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says they found Eurasian Watermilfoil along the eastern side and in depths of nearly 12 feet. However, the most infested areas were near the public beach and public water access on the northeast shore.

Lower and Upper Spunk Lakes have also been checked for the invasive species but none was found.

The DNR adds the lake will be designated as infested water and signage is already posted at the public access alerting boaters to the new infestation.
