Flu Season Prevention Tips

The flu season is upon us and SCSU’s Health Services have four simple rules for you to follow in order to prevent the spread of the flu.

1. Get Vaccinated: students can get a flu shot at Student Health Services for $10.

2. Cover Your Cough: Cover your mouth or nose when coughing or sneezing.

3. Wash Hands Often: Use soap and water or an alcohol based hand rub.  Hand Sanitizer is available to purchase for students, staff,  and faculty at Student Health Services.

4. Stay Home When Sick: If you have a fever 100 degrees or higher you should stay home from work and class until you have been completely fever-free (without fever-reducing medicine) for at least 24 hours, and you feel well.  For most people, this will be three to five days.

Over the counter medications to treat symptoms of the flu are available to purchase for students, staff and faculty at Student Health Services.
