Archived: Foley Man Suffers Serious Injuries After A Hunting Accident
A man suffered serious injuries after a report that a bullet fragment ricocheted off an object and struck him in the neck during a hunting accident Wednesday.
According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, 32-year-old Daniel Szcech of Foley, was hunting with his brother in Alberta Township. The two were walking 40 yards apart while leading a deer drive, when Szcech’s brother shot at a deer in front of him. The shot missed the deer and struck a hard object forcing a fragment of the bullet to ricochet back at Szcech, hitting him in the neck.
Szcech was treated at the St. Cloud hospital for non-life threatening injuries and later released.
