Archived: Grocers golf for a good cause

Every year area grocers hit the golf course to raise money for a good cause. This year the "Grocers on the Green" golf tournament raised $150,000 to help fight pediatric cancer. That money will will help keep kids close to home–allowing them to get treatment at the CentraCare Health Plaza. The fundraiser is chaired by Coborn’s CEO Chris Coborn and Greg Kurr, Vice President of Sales for Kemps. It started in 2002 and has raised about $870,000 for kids.

Coborn’s also raises money for cancer research with their Food for the Cure program each summer. When customers buy certain items, a portion of the sale goes to research. Since 2006, this program has raised almost $400,000.
