Archived: Highway 55 Between Buffalo and Rockford Will Close Lanes Due To Major Project

Drivers trying to use Highway 55 in Rockford will experience delays or have to plan a detour.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says that both directions of the highway between Ash Street and Main Street will be narrowed to one lane. Lanes are also expected to close off and on at the intersections of Wright County 11 and County Road 139 and County Road 11 and County Road 92. This is to prepare the detour route for drivers once Highway 55 between Buffalo and Rockford closes.

The closures are due to a major project that plans to improve Highway 55 between Buffalo and Rockford. Some of the expected changes include reconstructing roads, resurfacing, and improving the guardrails and sidewalks in the area. By the time everything is completed, about seven and a half miles of the highway will have improved.

The closures between Ash Street and Main Street will begin on Monday, June 18 at 6 a.m., while Highway 55 between Buffalo and Rockford closes on July 9.
