I-94 Closing Near St. Cloud Tuesday Night
04/30/2013 - 9:15 AM
If you've got plans tonight that include traveling eastbound Interstate 94 between St. Cloud and Clearwater you should plan an alternate route and allow for additional travel time. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is temporarily closing the single open eastbound lane at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Mn-DOT crews need to make emergency repairs to orange traffic cones, posts and other safety devices that were damaged during recent late-spring snow storms.
A 10-mile detour will direct motorist along Exit 171 to eastbound County Road 75 in St. Augusta, to southbound Highway 24 in Clearwater and back to eastbound I-94. Eastbound I-94 will reopen as a single lane by 10 p.m. this evening.
While westbound I-94 will not be closed during the repairs, motorists traveling both directions of the busy interstate should consider alternate routes until the road is officially reopened.
Both directions of I-94 have been reduced to a single lane between St. Cloud and Clearwater since April 3 while crews work to resurface 7.5 miles of the interstate.
