I-94 Lane Closure Near Clearwater Starting On Monday
09/20/2012 - 10:00 AM
On Monday, September 24th a lane on I-94 between St. Cloud and the Twin Cities will be closed temporarily. This will cause delays for drivers traveling to and from the Twin Cities. I-94 will be reduced to a single lane between Highway 24 in Clearwater and County Road 75 in St. Cloud. The lane will be closed until December 1 to prepare it for a major project to resurface seven and a half miles of I-94.
Major delays are to be expected and drivers are advised to plan ahead as well as travel carefully. Traffic forecasts show that backups on westbound I-94 could exceed 20 miles during Friday afternoon evening rush periods, as well as on Thursday afternoons and evenings and possibly midday on Saturdays. Drivers are advised to travel carefully, plan their travels along with alternate routes, use the “zipper merge” during times of slow traffic, and be prepared to stop, as well as navigate the work zones with caution whenever flashing lights, workers and orange cones are present.
