I-94 Upgrades Through Monticello To Begin Monday
04/09/2014 - 1:30 AM
The Interstate 94 Monticello reconstruction project will start on Monday April 14 and will reduce traffic flow to one lane during non-rush hours.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation says that traffic on I-94 through Monticello will encounter lane closures, road crews, heavy equipment and possible slow traffic as construction will be overnight seven days a week.
Road crews will construct temporary crossover lanes and other work as part of the project.
MnDOT says the project will improve I-94 from Wright County Road 18 to just west of Highway 25. Crews will fix all lanes of I-94 with the addition of an auxiliary lane to westbound I-94 between County Road 18 and Highway 25. The ramps will be upgraded at Highway 25 as well as other infrastructure in the area.
MnDOT expects the project to be finished this fall and will provide better traffic flow and a safer ride for more than two miles.
