Jesse Jean Smithers Will Be Charged As Adult In Colton Gleason Case

Last Friday, the Honorable Frank Kundrat announced that 17-year-old Jesse Jean Smithers will be charged as an adult for one count of murder in the second degree, one count of manslaughter in the first degree and one count of assault in the first degree.
Smithers was arraigned in adult court today [Monday] and bail was at $1,000,000 without conditions and $500,000 with conditions.
On September 20th, 2012 the St. Cloud Police Department were called to a report of an assault in the 600 block between 8th and 9th Avenue South in St. Cloud. Through the investigation it was learned that Smithers approached and struck the victim in the head with a closed fist. The victim, 20-year-old Colton Gleason, dropped the ground and became unconscious and died from his injuries sustained from the assault.
The next hearing will be held on Thursday, January 17th.
