Archived: Kearney Sentenced To Nearly 30 Years in Prison for Killing Her Father

A St. Cloud woman has been sentenced to nearly 30 years in prison for killing her father in January of 2016.

Lisa May Kearney made a court appearance Thursday before Stearns County District Judge Mary Mahler who sentenced her to 350 months in prison. The 40-year-old Kearney entered a guilty plea in October for second degree murder.

She killed her father, 66-year-old Jeffrey Eugene Schilling, in his north St. Cloud home on January 1st or 2nd, 2016. At the time of the incident Schilling’s body was found the couch in the home, where he died from head injuries. The complaint says blood spatter was on the wall and ceiling and had pooled near the victim’s head. Police found a short handled maul near his body.

Kearney was living with her father and fled the state and they discovered his missing pick-up truck at the Minneapolis airport. She was found and arrested in Louisville, Kentucky and extradited back to Minnesota.

When she was arrested in Kentucky authorities found her father’s computer tablet, wallet and keys with her.

Her sentence was within Minnesota sentencing guidelines for second degree murder.
