Archived: Local Band The New Suns Searching For Stolen Equipment

Local band The New Suns are asking for help finding their missing instruments.

The New Suns guitarist and singer Shane Jurek says he noticed the missing instruments after an unusual light was shining on his bedroom wall. The light was shining from the neighbor’s house through his open garage door.

Sauk Rapids Police say the equipment was stolen from the garage at 1206 Broadway Avenue South late Friday night or early Saturday morning. The band estimated the equipment was worth about 10,000 dollars.

Items stolen include two guitars, a drum set, two tube amps, and 15 to 20 “New Suns” T-shirts. Jurek says that the equipment was being stored in the garage temporarily while the band’s van was used move other items.

The band is using social media to help spread the word of the stolen items by sharing a photo and description of the stolen instruments. Jurek also says the local music scene has been supportive.

The Sauk Rapids Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 320-251-9451.

The New Suns are scheduled to play the Keller Bar in St. Cloud on April 13.
