Archived: Local Farmer Wins $5,000 Donation

The St. John’s-St. Andrew’s School and the Lake Henry Volunteer Fire Department are now able to better serve their community, thanks to support from a local farmer and America’s Farmers Grow Communities.

Sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, Grow Communities provides farmers in eligible counties the chance to win a $2,500 donation for a local nonprofit organization of their choice. To further support counties declared natural disasters by the United States Department of Agriculture due to drought this year, winning farmers in these counties are able to double donations.  Stearns County was declared a disaster area by the USDA, giving farmer Jeff Meyer the opportunity to choose two organizations to receive $2,500 donations.

The St. John’s-St. Andrew’s School will use the donation to purchase new technological equipment for the curriculum and the Lake Henry Fire Department plans to use the donation to make various station improvements.
