Archived: Local Man Arrested After Drug Bust

A 21-year-old man from St. Joseph was arrested after an investigation by several law enforcement agencies. The Central Minnesota Drug and Gang Task Force in conjunction with the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport Police, Stearns County Sheriff’s Office and St. Joseph Police Department lead to the arrest of Corey Joel Eichers.

He was arrested Monday on charges of controlled substance crime in the first degree in St. Wendel Township. Eichers was arrested after allegedly accepting a package that contained half a pound of cocaine and an ounce of methamphetamine. The Airport Police identified the package as suspicious and a subsequent search warrant revealed that it contained illegal substances.

A search warrant was also executed at the address of 3229 Terry Road in St. Wendel Township. A safe filled with seven firearms was found in a bedroom that Eichers shares with a sibling.

The drugs seized have an approximate wholesale value of $9,000, and could have brought in upwards of $50,000 at the street level. Eichers is currently being held in the Stearns County Jail with bail set in the amount of $75,000.
