Archived: Minnesota BCA Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in St. Cloud

A Stearns County Sheriff’s deputy and four St. Cloud Police officers are on administrative leave after an officer involved shooting Monday night.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says the officers were investigating a possible assault just before midnight Monday in west St. Cloud when an armed man broke out a back window and attempted to flee. The deputy fired his gun at the scene and two officers used Tasers to apprehend the suspect. The BCA did not indicate where the officer’s weapon was fired.

The suspect is currently at the St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The BCA has taken over the investigation and will be reviewing squad car cameras to see if the incident was caught on film. Neither the Stearns County Sheriff’s office nor the St. Cloud Police use body cameras.

KVSC news will bring you more on this story as the investigation continues.
