Archived: Missing Annadale Teenage Girl Is Safe

The missing 17-year-old girl from Annandale is safe and alive.

St. Cloud Police Department Assistant Chief Jeff Oxton says Aaliyah Kazimer was located Wednesday at approximately 5:15 p.m in Riverside Park, near Munsinger Gardens. This is where her car was found on Sunday.

She approached a third party to ask to use their cell phone so she could call her aunt. Kazimer was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital for precautionary measures, but police say she was stable.

Oxton released new information Thursday morning that based on their investigation and interviews with her that nothing criminal in nature was part of her circumstances as a missing person. She left her vehicle on her own and had "unlimited opportunities" to contact her friends and family and did not. Kazimer told police she intentionally left her keys, wallet and phone in her vehicle at the park.

She told investigators she was staying with a man, who was an acquaintance, in a house in St. Cloud and said she didn’t realize that she was reported missing or the large scale of the search to find her. The man in question told investigators he did not know Kazimer was a juvenile, or that she was reported missing.

Oxton says there is a great deal of relief by everyone involved that she was found alive and well.

Hundreds of volunteers had been looking for Kazimer since she was reported missing. The search included the Mississippi River and areas around Riverside Park and agencies such as the Sherburne and Anoka County Sheriff’s Departments, the Minnesota DNR, Annandale Police Department, Crossman Consulting and United Legacy were part of the search efforts.
