Archived: MnDOT Announces Safe Routes to School Grants; Local Schools Awarded

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced that 105 schools are receiving grants that will support Safe Routes to School.

Schools received grants in three categories: planning, non-infrastructure and infrastructure.

One school in Rice and two in Sartell were awarded money in the planning category.  North Elementary and Middle School in Princeton as well as Pleasantview Elementary in Sauk Rapids were awarded money to construct sidewalks and improve crosswalks.

All Safe Routes to School grants are federal funds and no local match is required. Each grant includes a resolution of support from the local governing body to ensure community support.
