Monticello Man Found Guilty in Assault Against Toddler

A Monticello man has been found guilty of causing long-term disabilities to a toddler.
23-year-old Matthew Scott Stewart was convicted of first-degree assault in connection to an incident that seriously injured his girlfriend’s son. The boy suffered brain injuries resulting from abusive head trauma.
The child was taken to Monticello Hospital for a head scan. The assault happened in September of 2015; Stewart has been sentenced in Wright County to 11 years in prison.
