The 31st Annual National Night Out is happening Tuesday around the nation, and the St. Cloud community is encouraged to participate.

The St. Cloud Police Department is inviting folks to lock their doors, turn on the outside lights, and spend an evening with neighbors out on the town.

Neighborhoods throughout the area will be hosting block parties, cookouts, contests, youth activities, and anti-crime rallies sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and the Police Department.

National Night Out is an event centered on decreasing crime and drug rates in the city.

The Police Department hopes the evening will strengthen neighborhood spirit and their connection with the community.

Festivities begin at 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.
