Archived: “Occupy Wall Street” Fight Against Corporate Greed Comes to MN

It’s gone on for nearly two weeks with little to no mainstream media coverage, but Occupy Wall Street shows no signs of slowing down.

What started as an eclectic assortment of people descending upon Wall Street and currently camping out at Zucotti Park, without any one demand except to "end corporate greed" and place power back into the hands of the American people, has now garnered the attention of various groups. Continental and United Continental airline pilots joined the effort Tuesday to voice frustration with airline management. New York City’s Transit Workers Union has voted unanimously to march alongside the protesters, and will be joining next Wednesday. Another union representing doormen, security guards, and maintenance workers in the city will also be rallying on October 12.

Similar protests have also popped up around the country and globe in support of the overall cause and to voice regional grievances and inequalities. Minnesota will be joining in, with OccupyMN hosting a meet-and-greet Saturday, October 1 at Stevens Square Park in Minneapolis. The official protest is scheduled for Friday, October 7 at the The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, although all details have yet to be released.

A lot of emphasis has been put on the power of the 99% of Americans without corporate power.  While there is a large presence on the Internet, all forms of communication are encouraged.
