Archived: OccupyMN Reaches St. Cloud State University

A St. Cloud State University student organization is preparing to take part in a national movement.

OccupyMN, which is inspired by the nation-wide Occupy Wall Street movement, has reached campus and piqued the interest of students and faculty. A number of student organizations on campus, including Students Organized for Change, are planning to send a St. Cloud contingent to the event scheduled for Friday, October 7 at the Hennepin County Government Plaza in Minneapolis.

The Occupy Wall Street movement resulted in more than 700 arrests on Sunday when protesters attempted to march across the Brooklyn Bridge. The movement aims to shift power back to the American people, referred to as the “99-percent,” from the ruling minority of the super-rich.

Any faculty or staff interested in carpooling to the Minneapolis event can contact Dominic Wetzel of the Sociology and Anthropology Department
