Officials To Participate In Simulated Nuclear Incident Exercise Tuesday

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety, along with other agencies, will respond to a simulated Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant emergency situation on Tuesday, July 23.
The exercise will test the capabilities of federal, state and local agencies in the event of an emergency. Officials from the DHS will be evaluating the participating responders during the exercise.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety will be joined by Excel Energy, Minnesota Departments of Argiculture, Health, Human Services, Natural Resources and Transportation along with Sherburne and Wright Counties and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Residents in the areas near the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant should not be alarmed by emergency responders carrying out their duties during the exercise.
