A Stearns County Deputy’s car was hit by a semi-truck after the Deputy was responding to an accident on Interstate 94 early Friday morning. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Department received several calls around 4:30 a.m. of a motor vehicle accident with injuries on I-94 near mile marker 156 in Avon Township that involved multiple vehicles.

The Sheriff’s Department says that a Deputy was investigating another accident when a semi-truck travelling eastbound lost control and hit the Deputies car while it was parked on the shoulder of the road with its emergency lights on.

The Deputy was in the car at the time of the crash and was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital where he was treated and released. The Minnesota State Patrol was called to the scene and is currently investigating both the original accident and the accident involving the Stearns County patrol car.
