Archived: President of St. Cloud State University To Leave Post July 1

St. Cloud State University’s Interim President announced to faculty, staff and students Thursday morning he will be leaving the institution after the end of the current school year.

Ashish Vaidya says in his message it is with mixed feelings that he will become the President of Northern Kentucky University effective July 1. Vaidya stepped into the interim presidency role after the sudden death of Earl Potter in a car crash in June of 2016. He had been the university’s provost prior to that tragedy.

Vaidya has been at SCSU for about two and a half years. He calls it one of the most professionally rewarding experiences of his career. As the university works through the transition to naming a new president Vaidya says he’s committed to playing an active role with the new leader.

Minnesota State’s Interim Chancellor Devinder Malhotra says they are beginning a national search immediately. They are working with a professional firm, AGB Search, and the Chancellor will name a search chair by the end of the week. He says it’s his intention to kick off the search prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Northern Kentucky University announced Vaidya’s presidency online here.
