Chad Matthew Pulju was sentenced to nearly 22 years in prison on Friday after pleading guilty to second degree murder in the stabbing death of his mother, Geraldine Delores Bennet.
St. Cloud Police were called to the 2700 block of Atwood Drive just after midnight on August 23, 2012 after reports of two people arguing. According to the report, when police arrived they found Bennet lying on the floor covered in blood with threatening injuries apparently from an edged weapon.
Bennet was transported to St. Cloud Hospital where she was pronounced dead around 2 a.m. According to an autopsy of Bennet, the 68-year-old had forty-seven stab wounds on her face, neck, and arm.
Pulju claims to have no recollection of the night’s event, due to being in an alcohol induced blackout.
