Archived: Recommendations Made For Seventh Judicial District Candidates

The Commission on Judicial Selection has announced three candidates that Governor Mark Dayton should consider to fill the current vacancy in Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District.This district court judgeship will be located in St. Cloud.

The three candidates include Daniel Benson, who is a member of the criminal defense firm of Benson Law Office and serves as a part-time Assistant Public Defender for the Seventh Judicial District.

The second candidate is Andrew Pearson, who is a criminal defense attorney at the law firm of Bradshaw and Bryant and also serves as a Public Defender for Stearns and Benton Counties.

The final candidate is Shan Wang, who is the Assistant Chief of the Criminal Division in the Stearns County Attorney’s Office where he supervises the adult criminal prosecution division. Wang was previously an Assistant Stearns County Attorney.

The Seventh Judicial District consists of Becker, Benton, Clay, Douglas, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Otter Tail, Stearns, Todd and Wadena Counties.

An announcement of the appointment will be made after an interview process that will take place over the next few weeks.
