A Sartell man died Tuesday after being hit by a car while riding his bicycle.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says that 51-year-old John Girard Seiler was riding his bicycle northbound on the east shoulder of County Road 2 in St. Wendel Township when he was struck from behind by a car. The car was driven by 73-year-old Judy Ranson Post of Pasadena, California.

Witnesses claim that Post’s car swerved into the shoulder and rear-ended Seiler on his bike. Seiler was thrown from his bike and landed in the ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

St. Joseph Rescue and Gold Cross Ambulance assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
