SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. (AP) - The mayor of the central Minnesota city of Sauk Rapids says he won't resign, despite numerous calls for him to step down following his drunken driving arrest.

Mayor Brad Gunderson told a packed City Council meeting Monday night that he was sorry for his "bad judgment" in his Feb. 17 arrest. Gunderson is in the first months of his new role as mayor and says he will not voluntarily step down. More than a half dozen residents called for his resignation during the meeting, including Mike Aurelius.

He told KNSI it's unacceptable that the mayor drove a bus for disabled riders, including his son, the morning after his drunken driving arrest. Gunderson was later suspended from the bus service.

The council agreed to draft a resolution saying it doesn't condone the mayor's actions.
