Archived: Sauk Rapids Police Canine Tracks Down Man Who Fled Police

A Sauk Rapids police canine caught a 46-year-old man who was fleeing police on foot early Friday morning in Sauk Rapids.

Sauk Rapids police chief Perry Beise, Dean Arnold Gangl the driver of a vehicle pulled over for a routine traffic stop by Sauk Rapids Police just after 2:00 a.m.  Gangl ditched the vehicle, running and hiding in a neighborhood off Benton Drive North and Highway 15.

Officers set up a perimeter and used police dog Storm to track and find Gangl.

Gangl was arrested on a Felony Domestic Assault and Terroristic Threats warrant. He was also arrested for Fleeing Police, a felony.

Gangl was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital for minor injuries then booked into the Stearns County Jail, where he awaits more charges from Sauk Rapids Police.
