Sheriff's Respond to Two Vehicle Accident Near Cold Spring

A Cold Spring woman was injured after her car lost control and hit another vehicle Monday. Stearns County Sheriff’s Department was called to a two-vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of County Road 2 and Halfman Road just after 5 p.m.
19-year-old Philomena Wertish was driving a 2002 Grand Prix southbound on County Road 2 when she lost control on an icy road and hit a truck driven by 41-year-old Jay Gombos of Rice who was driving northbound. Wertish’s car nearly hit another vehicle before going into a ditch. Wertish was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
