Snow Emergency Issued For St. Cloud

A Snow Emergency has been issued for St. Cloud. The snow emergency will be in effect for 72 hours unless rescinded due to favorable weather conditions.
According to SCSU Meteorology Professor Bob Wesiman, a combination of new snow that has accumulated 10 to 15 inches in the Minnesota River Valley, Willmar, Redwood Falls and Marshall, as well as blowing snow, has been causing huge travel problems.
US 14, 71, 59, 212 and 75 and now closed in parts of west, central and southwestern Minnesota. Travel is on not recommended many roads in west, central and southwest Minnesota.
Winds will be an issue later tonight as they pick up 15 to 30 MPH and temperatures will fall back to near 10 degrees by early evening and below zero overnight.
