St. Cloud City Council To Discuss Smoking In Barden Park Near SCSU
04/25/2013 - 12:45 PM
St. Cloud State University has been tobacco-free for almost a year, but the decision has had unpleasant consequences for a nearby historical site.
A recent city report says that Barden Park now gets hundreds of visits per week from smokers, and hundreds of cigarette butts litter the ground. The St. Cloud Neighborhood Coalition wants officials to make Barden Park the city's first smoke-free park to stop the cigarette butt problem. The historic park is adjacent to campus on 5th Avenue South.
This Monday, April 29 the St. Cloud City Council will be holding a study session at 6:00 p.m. to discuss the SCSU Tobacco-Free Policy and the impacts to Barden Park. The sessions will be held in Conference Room #1.
