St. Cloud Man Arrested After Attempted Armed Robbery Near University Drive and 5th Ave South

A St. Cloud man has been charged with 1st degree aggravated robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm after allegedly pointing a gun at another man and robbing him of his wallet on Monday.
According to the St. Cloud Police Department, 20-year-old Alonzo Dontae Adams was walking near 5th Avenue and University Drive Monday night and when he approached a 20-year-old man from St. Cloud. Adams then allegedly pointed a short barrel shotgun at the man and asked for his wallet. No one was injured during the incident.
Also according to the St. Cloud Police Department, information came in Thursday regarding illegal weapons being stored at the 1200 block of 6th Avenue South. The Violent Offender Task Force then executed a search warrant at the residence and recovered the short barrel shotgun.
A second warrant was then completed by the Campus Area Police Services at the same residence. While at the scene, CAPS recovered the victim’s wallet. Adams is currently being held in the Stearns County Jail.
The case is still under investigation.
