Archived: St. Cloud Man In Jail After False Report And Refusing Arrest

A St. Cloud man is in jail after providing a false report and refusing arrest. St. Cloud Police were called to the 3700 block of 3rd Street North on Thursday for an assault call.

A police investigation found that the accuser had previously made this report to another office and was now attempting to make a new report after providing false information. According to the police report, the accuser, 50-year-old Roger Scott Thompson was told that he was being arrested for falsely reporting a crime when he began resisting officers and refused to comply with lawful orders. Thompson had to be restrained and an officer received a sprained finger. Thompson also stated on tape that he had the intention of stealing the officer’s guns and beating them to death, or killing them.

Thompson was taken to the Stearns County Jail for charges of terroristic threats, 4th degree assault, obstructing the legal process, falsely reporting a crime and disorderly conduct.
