Archived: St. Cloud Man Is Injured After Being Struck By Another In the Passenger Side Door

A man has suffered life-threatening injuries after he was riding in a vehicle that was struck by another Thursday afternoon.

St. Cloud Police Sergeant Jason Burke says, 42-year-old Yuan Yi Li of Brainerd, was south on Highway 15 when he ran the red light at 8th Street North and struck the passenger side of another vehicle that was making a left turn onto 8th Street North. The driver of the second vehicle, 30-year-old Bryan Mark Gillitzer of St. Cloud, was with two other people. 53-year-old Jennifer Mary Gillitzer of St. Cloud was in the front passenger seat, while 33-year-old Luke Matthew Gillitzer also of St. Cloud, was in the back seat. Both of the passengers suffered injuries including Luke’s being life-threatening.They were taken to the St. Cloud Emergency Room by ambulance.

Burke says Li was cited for semaphore violation at the scene. Alcohol or any other drugs were not said to be factor in the accident.

After the two vehicles collided, a secondary collision occurred that slightly damaged a St. Cloud Metro Bus. Nobody was hurt on the bus.
