Archived: St. Cloud Police Arrest Man After Swimming in Sauk River

A St. Cloud man was arrested by St. Cloud Police Wednesday after floating in the Sauk River for nearly a mile after acting erratically.

According to St. Cloud Assistant Police Chief Jeff Oxton 36-year-old Adam Sundquist was denied access to the baseball and golf complexes at the Municipal Athletic Complex around 3p.m. He was wearing a small towel and was said to be acting “erratically” by the staff before he headed to the river.

Sundquist was uncooperative and unwilling to get out the river. After floating for nearly a mile downstream he exited the river near the 1400 block of County Road 134.

Police took Sundquist into custody for disorderly conduct and obstructing legal process.  He was detained at Stearns County Jail for violation of terms of probation and then taken to the St. Cloud Hospital for evaluation.
